Tips and Pearls for making Ginger and Mint Tea

- Freshness Matters: Always opt for fresh ginger and fresh mint leaves for a more vibrant and authentic flavour.
- Bruise the Mint: Before adding mint leaves to the pot, lightly bruise them with your fingers or the back of a spoon. This releases the essential oils and enhances the flavour.
- Adjust Ginger to Taste: Not everyone has the same tolerance for ginger's spiciness. Start with a smaller amount, and you can always add more to fit your palate to make your perfect Ginger and Mint tea
- Cold Version: Ginger and mint tea can also be enjoyed cold. Once brewed, let it cool and refrigerate for a refreshing iced version.
- Straining is Essential: Always strain your tea to ensure no ginger bits or mint leaves make their way into your cup.
Suggested Alterations
- Sweeteners: Swap honey for agave syrup, stevia, or maple syrup.
- Zest it Up: Add a dash of lemon or orange zest for an extra citrus kick.
- Spices: Introduce a cinnamon stick or a few cardamom pods for warmth.
- Chill Out: Try it as an iced tea with a splash of lemon juice.
- Herb Variations: Replace mint with basil or lemon balm for a unique flavor profile.
- Strength: Adjust the ginger-to-mint ratio based on your preference for spiciness vs. freshness.
